My Own Old Fashioned Oatmeal Recipe
Start With Old Fashioned Oats...
This is a filling, delicious breakfast recipe that I have most mornings in the winter. Be sure to use old-fashioned oats rather than instant (processed) oats. Start to finish this recipe only takes about 10 minutes, so be sure to get all the goodness you can from the grain.
Fruits, Nuts & Whole Grain Oats
Get Brita!
Here's What You'll Need...
2 quart covered ceramic casserole dish.
½ cup of old fashioned oats.
1 cup of Brita water.
1 heaping tbsp peanut butter.
1 generous tsp honey.
A generous shake of cinnamon.
Dried fruit, flax seeds, and nuts to taste.
Milk or yogurt as topping.
Here's What You'll Do...
Measure the oats into the casserole dish. Add all of the other ingredients. Do not stir at this point. Cover the dish and microwave on high for 3 minutes. Remove the cover, stir, and microwave on high, uncovered, for another 3 minutes. Remove the dish from the microwave, stir. Top with milk or yogurt of any flavor. Enjoy!

I didn't know that, but how instant do you want it? This is pretty fast! :D That would surely be better than the expensive processed product you get in the store. Thanks!
Delish!!! I've gotta try this!
I know you will enjoy it. I just had it this morning now that there is a bit of Fall in the air again! :)

Thanks! :)
Wow, what a delicious and healthy treat! Thanks.
Thanks, yesterday I watched a documentary about food in China. I learned about congee. I am going to try making it with some of these same things added.

sounds great on a snowy day like today. Did you know that if you put 'old-fashioned' oats into the blender and pulse it a few times you will end up with your own 'instant' oats?
