The secret code of the rose…

Roses have many messages to share. Throughout history, they have been invested with subtle - and not so subtle - meaning in many ways. From color to type to number, you can surely always say it with roses. They are fragrant, beautiful, elegant messengers of love for Valentine's day and every day.

Red Roses Say 'I Love You!'

Heart Shaped Red Rose Petals (200 Pc)
Amazon Price: $5.25

A bouquet of red and white roses sends a message of loyal, lasting, true love!

From Gratitude To True Love...

To say…

  • “I’m grateful!” Send a beautiful bouquet of fresh roses.
  • “I still love you!” Send a single rose. A single rose symbolizes intimacy - a private and personal message. Be sure to personalize the depth of your feeling by choosing a color and type that will truly convey your message.
  • “The rose speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart.” Anonymous

Or...

“You are still young and beautiful to me!” Send a delicate bouquet of rosebuds.

“I loved you the moment I saw you!” A lavender rose with thorns removed should do the trick.

For Colleagues, Friends & Hopeful Flames...

  • “You are a valued friend and colleague!“ Send a bouquet of light pastel tones to express sociability and friendship.
  • "You are my dearest friend!" A beautiful bouquet of yellow roses sends warmth, sunshine and happiness to valued friends.
  • “You are my best friend, and I wish you were more!” A lively orange bouquet could convey a wish to turn a friendship into a romance!

Pink Roses Speak of Grace, Sweetness & Poetic Romance!

How Many?

A dozen roses symbolize completeness. Twelve is a very meaningful number in most cultures. It reflects the hours on the face of a clock, the months in a year, the signs of the zodiac. The number twelve is so consistently in use cross-culturally, throughout history that it carries the weight of meaning and importance. So a bouquet of beautiful flowers can bring a deep and sincere message of trust and commitment if it consists of twelve blossoms.

Twenty four roses carry twice the weight. There are twenty four hours in a day. Giving a bouquet of two dozen roses implies that you think of the recipient in each of those hours. Twenty four karat gold is prized and carries a promise. The promise carried by the number twenty four is one of complete devotion. When you give two dozen roses, you are saying, “I belong to you!”

For A Truly Romantic Combination...

...be sure to add chocolate to your roses! It is not just a myth that rich, dark chocolate increases mid-brain serotonin levels and produces endorphins that create a sense of well-being and even romance!

For a truly successful romantic message, you will want to be sure to seal it with a chocolate kiss! ;)

Loved this, just not sure if my Hubby would appreciate me sending him roses for Valentines Day :), (I shall be somewhere around Cape Horn about then). Still, I love Roses, especially if you can find ones with scent thesedays, (too many modern ones have no scent). A very romantic gift.

Yes, that does sound beautiful! Of course, it's hard to go wrong with roses, no matter what you do! I will have a companion article on the meaning of the colors of roses on Associated Content soon. I will add a link to this article when it is published. :)
